i really don't know what to make of this. the words that pop into my train of thought don't match, and i am having brain-fart after brain-fart trying to make sense of this. it really stretches the imagination...
I have dreams like this when my mind is grappling the impossible. My aquatic company usually consist of fish, though, and are more often than not aquarium fish, especially goldfish, and they float around just in front of me. I never seem to be able to catch them or look at them for long. Once I realize what they are and that they are swimming/floating right in front of me, they swim away.
But you have the same logic-defying spirit here. You have something greater and older going on its merry way above people and institutions who pay no mind. They don't even bother looking up to see something gargantuan and wonderful. To do so would incite cognitive dissonance. They are only interested in going up the "steps" into that dark hole of a building and walking in a 90 degree world, and maybe looking at wares from the shopmongers. Silly humanses.
Ive seen a lot of flying whale pictures and generally like them. This one I don't like very much. It doesn't evoke any emotion for me. In fact it makes me question it, like where is this whale going? It looks like he's about to crash into that wall. So Kinda makes me think you thought your painting needed something extra so you slapped down a flying whale.
This reminds me of a fond childhood memory - the Pines of Rome in Disney's Fantasia 2000. Well done, congratulations on the daily deviation, and thank you for the awakening of an old but cherished memory!
